Land at Windmill House, Alton

Access

We are proposing to replace the existing access drive from Windmill Hill with a new access road into the site from Windmill Hill, providing access for vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists.  This new access point will be designed to meet Hampshire County Council’s highways standards.

The proposed access would be created a short distance to the east of the existing drive:

The proposed vehicle, pedestrian & cycle access from Windmill Hill

The access would be located opposite No. 54 Windmill Hill; however there is a tall hedgerow along this section of Windmill Hill on the southern side, which would largely screen the access from view.  We anticipate that the development would result in an additional 35 vehicles using Windmill Hill in the AM peak hour and 35 vehicles in the PM peak hour.  The access would have two-metre footways on either side of the carriageway, both of which would link directly into the existing footway that runs along the north side of Windmill Hill.

As part of the planning application process, we will be working with East Hampshire District Council and Hampshire County Council Highways to identify any improvements that are required in relation to site access and pedestrian and vehicular connections to the town centre.

Within the site, a compliant amount of car parking spaces would be provided.
